Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST)
Shahjalal University of Science & Technology was initiated in 1987and started its career on 14th February 1991 with three departments : Physics, Chemistry and Economics. At the outset it had 13 teachers and 205 students. The number of teachers has grown to 216 and the students to 2509. The university has 3 affiliated medical colleges under the School of Medical Science and one affiliated Veterinary College under the School of Life Sciences.
Bangladesh Open University
The  main objective of Bangladesh Open  University (BOU)  is  to  create  an  educated  and trained  work-force  by  providing access to a wide range of educational programmes  and vocational and vocational training for all levels of people particularly for those  disadvantaged rural masses including women who are generally deprived of formal education and training.
National University
National University is the central authority of graduate and post-graduate collages in Bangladesh. It was established under an Act of the Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh with features distinct from those of the traditional Universities of the country. It grew out of the exigencies of time who most of the Universities were encumbered with unwieldy roll strength, menaced by student unrest and bard-pressed to see to their obligations towards the affiliated college, which bore the bulk of tertiary education in the country.
Islamic University
The Islamic University has been established for the combination and co-ordination of different branches of education of Humanities and modern science with the Islamic Education and promote research on modern branches of education and to develop a new curriculum of modem education based on ethical and moral values of Islam.
